Moses Sichone Appointed as New Chipolopolo Coach

Moses Sichone has been named as Avram Grant's replacement, taking the helm as the new Chipolopolo coach.

Grant was fired on October 29, 2025 after a poor run of results where Zambia only picked up three wins in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and failed to qualify for the tournament.

Sichone is a former Zambian international who spent most of his club playing career in Germany and previously served with Chipolopolo as caretaker manager in 2022 and assistant coach between 2022-23.

FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande confirmed that the Sichone-led technical bench will guide the team in Morocco during the Africa Cup of Nations next month.

"The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) is excited to announce the new chapter of the Chipolopolo technical bench—the youthful and dynamic quartet of Moses Sichone, Andrew Sinkala, Perry Mutapa, and Kennedy Mweene will be leading the Chipolopolo project," Shepande said.

The new bench's first assignment will be the November 15 and 18 FIFA window qualifiers, when they face South Africa and Burundi.
