Zambia's U-17 football team made an impressive start to the FIFA World Cup group stages, defeating Indonesia 3-1 in their opening match on Tuesday evening.
Indonesia took an early lead in the 11th minute through Gholy, but the Junior Chipolopolo showed great resilience to fight back into the match. Abel Nyirongo scored twice in the 34th and 36th minutes to turn the game around before Lujonde Mwale added a third in the 41st minute to seal the victory.
Dennis Makinda's boys will face Honduras in their second group match on Friday, November 7, before concluding their group campaign against five-time world champions Brazil on Monday, November 10.
This is Zambia's first appearance in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, with the tournament taking place in Qatar this year.
