Traditional Leaders Advocate for Peaceful Elections

Traditional leaders in Lunte District have advocated for peaceful elections next month. They called on politicians to uphold peace and unity throughout the country.

Chief Chitoshi, traditional leader of the Lungu people, commented that everyone competing for various positions in the upcoming election should prioritise Zambia's peace and the welfare of its people.

He followed this by explaining the importance of citizens and politicians refraining from character assassination, as it would raise tensions and could divide the country.

Over the weekend, Vice President Mutale Nalumango paid a courtesy call on the traditional leaders during her visit to Lunte District. The Vice President assured the traditional leaders of the Government's continued support and stated that the Government's desire is to develop the country and ensure that all Zambians benefit from its development agenda.

Chief Mukupa Kaoma urged traditional leaders to work closely with the Government of the day. This, he said, would increase the effectiveness of implementing various development programmes.

The Vice President also attended a public rally at Mukupa Kaoma Secondary School.
