HH to Commission US$70 Million Chisamba Solar Power Plant

President Hakainde Hichilema is tomorrow scheduled to commission the newly completed second phase of the Chisamba Solar Power Plant in Chisamba District, a US$70 million investment aimed at strengthening Zambia's renewable energy capacity.

Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe said the President is expected to arrive in Chisamba at approximately 09:30 to officially commision the solar plant.

Dr Mwanakampwe said the completion of the project's second phase will increase Chisamba District's contribution to 200 megawatts of solar-generated electricity, marking a significant milestone towards the country's goal of producing 1,000 megawatts of solar power.

He made the remarks in Kabwe when Zesco Managing Director Justin Loongo paid a courtesy call ahead of President Hichilema's visit.
