Vice President Consoles Family of Late Dr Guy Scott

Republican Vice President Mutale Nalumango today visited Belvedere Lodge in Lusaka to pay her respects and console the widow and family of former Vice President Dr Guy Scott, who died on July 15, 2026, at the age of 82.

Arriving at the funeral gathering, the Vice President spent time with the bereaved family, offering words of comfort and solidarity on behalf of the government and the people of Zambia as the nation mourns one of its most prominent statesmen.

Her visit came as mourners from across the country continued to arrive at Belvedere Lodge to bid farewell to Dr Scott, who passed away after an illness. The late former Vice President is being accorded a State Funeral in recognition of his long service to the nation.

A funeral service will be held at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka, after which Dr Scott will be laid to rest at Leopards Hill Memorial Park on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Dr Scott is remembered as a dedicated public servant who made a lasting contribution to Zambia's political history, and tributes have continued to pour in from leaders and citizens alike.
