CCMG Condemns Miles Sampa Over Observer Harassment
The Christian Churches Monitoring Group has condemned the harassment and intimidation of its accredited observer by Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa at a voter registration centre on November 24, 2025.
In a statement issued yesterday, CCMG said Mr Sampa, who visited Jordan UCZ Community School registration centre without accreditation, confronted their observer questioning their presence, forcefully grabbed their accreditation card, and proceeded to take the observer's personal details.
The incident occurred in full view of Police and Electoral Commission of Zambia officials, who are legally mandated to safeguard the rights, security, and operations of accredited observers. However, neither institution intervened despite the clear harassment and violation of the Electoral Code of Conduct.
CCMG expressed particular concern over Mr Sampa's subsequent decision to publish the observer's personal information, including their photo and NRC number, on his Facebook page.
The group described this as highly irresponsible and unacceptable, stating that publicly exposing personal details not only violates the observer's privacy and dignity but places them at increased personal risk.
CCMG said the conduct violates Section 22 of the Cyber Crimes Act, 2025, and is contrary to principles of electoral integrity and responsible leadership.
The organisation said such actions violate established electoral procedures and erode public trust in the electoral process.
