PF Postpones Convention as Unity Crisis Deepens
Patriotic Front presidential candidate Makebi Zulu has announced the party has proposed to its Central Committee to postpone the convention to elect a new leader.
The PF had been scheduled to hold its convention on November 29, 2025.
Speaking during a live-stream address on Sunday, Zulu said aspiring candidates met that day to pursue unity and resolve ongoing conflicts. The decision was made under the guidance of party elders, including former vice president Inongo Wina.
Chama North PF MP Yotam Mtayachalo has warned the party risks fracturing like UNIP and MMD if internal disputes remain unresolved. "The PF should not take Zambians for a ride," Mtayachalo said. "There can only be one leader at a time."
The process for choosing the new PF leader has been highly chaotic. The final decision now lies with the Central Committee which is expected to deliberate on a new date for a long-delayed elective gathering.
