ACC Claims Mumba Sentence Too Light
The Anti-Corruption Commission has appealed to the High Court against the sentence given to Nevers Mumba.
Dr Mumba was convicted of two counts of abuse of authority of office but was handed down an absolute discharge.
The ACC is arguing that the Magistrate Court erred when it made the order to discharge Dr Mumba’s misdemeanours.
The Commission says the Court’s decision was contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Further, the Commission has submitted that section 38 provides a punishment for a misdemeanour which is either imprisonment not exceeding two years or a fine or both.
