Kasama Hospital to Offer Advanced Kidney Care

Kasama General Hospital in Northern Province is set to begin providing advanced clinical care services for kidney patients, marking a significant step forward for healthcare delivery in the region.

The development follows a specialised training programme conducted by a team of experts from Lusaka, who equipped local medical staff with the skills needed to deliver improved treatment options for patients suffering from kidney-related conditions.

Previously, many patients requiring advanced renal care had to travel long distances to access specialised treatment, often at considerable cost and inconvenience to families. The introduction of these services at Kasama General Hospital is expected to ease that burden, bringing critical care closer to communities across the province.

Hospital authorities have welcomed the initiative, noting that it reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen medical capacity beyond the capital and ensure that quality healthcare reaches all parts of the country.

The training is part of broader measures aimed at decentralising specialised health services and building local expertise. By empowering staff at provincial level, the hospital hopes to reduce referrals to Lusaka and provide timely, life-saving interventions for kidney patients.
