CDF Skills Training Creates Employment Opportunities for Young People

A young woman who received heavy equipment operator training through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Skills Development Bursary has secured employment with the Namwala District Council in Southern Province.

Sophia Chilenga, now employed as a Tractor Loader Backhoe (TLB) operator, credited the Government's CDF initiative for equipping her with practical skills that have enabled her to enter the workforce. She said the 2023 CDF Skills Development Bursary transformed her prospects by providing access to vocational training and meaningful employment, she is grateful for the opportunity to work through the skills development fund.

Meanwhile, Namwala District Council Public Relations Officer Nchimunya Likubi revealed that the local authority has so far recruited two young people who completed training under the CDF Skills Development Programme. She noted that the programme is helping to build a skilled local workforce while creating sustainable employment opportunities for youths in the district.
