UPND Returns 137 MPs As ECZ Publishes Full Parliamentary Breakdown

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has published the full list of members of parliament elected in the 2026 general election, confirming a decisive parliamentary majority for the United Party for National Development.

The UPND takes 137 of the 224 declared constituencies, just over three fifths of the seats settled so far. Results in two constituencies are yet to be determined, leaving 226 elected seats in total.

The National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity emerges as the principal opposition bloc with 59 seats. Independents return 20 members, the Resolute Party takes five seats, Citizens First two, and Zambia Must Prosper one.

The provincial breakdown shows the UPND drawing strength across Southern, Western, North Western and Central provinces, while the NRPUP concentrates its returns in Muchinga, Northern and Luapula, alongside a significant showing on the Copperbelt.

Women account for 32 of the 224 declared seats, or 14.3 per cent of the incoming House. Nineteen sit for the UPND, nine for the NRPUP, three as independents and one for Citizens First.
