More Regional Leaders Arrive in Lusaka for Hichilema Inauguration

A steady stream of regional leaders and senior dignitaries has been arriving in Lusaka to attend the inauguration of President-elect Hakainde Hichilema, taking place today at the National Heroes Stadium.

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan touched down at the Presidential Pavilion at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, where she was received ahead of the ceremony. She was joined by Botswana's President Duma Boko, who also arrived in the country to witness the swearing-in.

Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah likewise landed at the airport's Presidential Pavilion, adding to the high-level regional turnout for the occasion.

Eswatini was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, who arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 10:10 hours and was received by senior Government officials.

Their arrivals underscore the strong regional and continental interest in the inauguration, and reflect the warm ties Zambia continues to enjoy with its neighbours and partners across Southern Africa and beyond.

The visiting Heads of State and representatives join thousands of Zambians who began gathering at the National Heroes Stadium in the early hours of the morning to witness President Hichilema take the oath of office for his second term.

As more dignitaries continue to touch down in the capital, the mood in Lusaka is one of celebration, with all eyes now firmly on Heroes Stadium.
