HH Puts Mining and Jobs at Heart of Copperbelt Tour

President Hakainde Hichilema rallied across the Copperbelt today, pledging job creation, mining expansion, infrastructure development and improved public services ahead of the 13 August General Election.

In Mufulira, President Hichilema pledged to attract more investment into the mining sector to create employment, particularly for young people, while addressing the district's long-standing water supply challenges. He also announced plans to engage Mopani Copper Mines to allocate more mining dumpsites to youths, building on the D19 and D22 dumpsites, with beneficiaries to receive training in safe and legal mining practices as well as support in accessing markets for their mineral products.

He further directed Mopani Copper Mines and Konkola Copper Mines to increase supply contracts awarded to youth-owned businesses and urged Mopani to resolve outstanding pension concerns affecting former miners.

In Lufwanyama, the President said the recent constituency delimitation would increase Constituency Development Fund allocations to K80 million, enabling the completion of ongoing projects and the implementation of new ones.

He pledged to upgrade the M18 Lufwanyama–Kalengwa Road, improve mobile network coverage, construct the Mumbuluma Bridge linking Lufwanyama and Mpongwe, and build additional boarding secondary schools.

He also promised continued support for farmers through prompt Food Reserve Agency payments and an expanded Farmer Input Support Programme, while maintaining the school feeding programme, Cash for Work initiative, Social Cash Transfer and the free education policy.

President Hichilema further instructed local leaders to submit the names of volunteer nurses for recruitment and said his administration would continue creating employment in both the public and private sectors.

The President urged voters to support the party in next week's election to enable the government to continue delivering.
