Xi Jinping to Send Special Envoy to Hichilema's Inauguration

Chinese President Xi Jinping will be represented by a special envoy at the inauguration of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema's second term on September 1, Chinese officials have confirmed.

The envoy, Xian Hui, who serves as vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, will travel to Lusaka at the invitation of the Zambian government.

President Hichilema, who secured re-election in the August 13 general elections, will be sworn in on September 1 at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

The decision to send a high-level special envoy underscores the strong and longstanding ties between Zambia and China, and reflects Beijing's continued commitment to deepening cooperation with Lusaka under President Hichilema's leadership.
