President Wraps Up Day One in Central Province
President Hakainde Hichilema completed a powerful first day of his Central Province tour yesterday, carrying the message of continued development and unity to Chitambo, Serenje and Mkushi districts.
At Mpelembe in Chitambo, the President was welcomed by His Royal Highness Chief Chitambo and thousands of residents. He acknowledged that the area had lagged behind for many years, but reaffirmed that the story is now changing under the UPND administration, pointing to free education and increased CDF as evidence of development already delivered.
In Serenje, the President thanked residents for turning out in numbers, noting that a district long left stagnant is now seeing development trickle down through increased CDF since 2021. He reminded citizens that Serenje was once marred by political violence, but that the rule of law has been restored, allowing people to move forward freely.
The day closed at the Mkushi showgrounds, where the President addressed thousands during a community engagement. He urged Zambians not to be swayed by opposition politicians who failed to deliver when previously in power, warning that their interest lies in benefiting from the progress made rather than serving the people. He highlighted feeder and urban roads as a priority, supported by CDF, alongside free education, thousands of new jobs, and reforms to lower the cost of living.
