North-Western Students Rally Behind HH for Continuity
Students across North-Western Province have thrown their support behind President Hakainde Hichilema ahead of the August General Election, pointing to reforms that have widened access to education and strengthened learning opportunities.
National Council of Students Coordinator Onesmus Moonde said Government policies have kept vulnerable learners in school and opened the door to tertiary education. The progress achieved in the sector, he added, justifies continued support for the current administration.
At Solwezi Trades Training Institute, Students' President Kennedy Chinfwano praised the impact of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursaries, which he said have transformed the lives of vulnerable students by enabling them to enrol in tertiary institutions and gain vocational and technical skills.
Solwezi College of Nursing and Midwifery Students' President Alexander Kasonde welcomed the ongoing recruitment of health workers, describing it as clear evidence of Government's commitment to strengthening the healthcare system.
Obed Mandevu, Students' Representative at Solwezi College of Education, echoed the sentiment, crediting free education and CDF bursaries with helping many learners progress from secondary school to tertiary institutions.
National Council of Students Union (NACOSU) Chairperson Michelo Chizombe called on students across the Province to defend the gains made in education. Young people, he stressed, must take a leading role in promoting and protecting the policies that have improved access to learning.
Together, the students' message was unified: the reforms have delivered real change, and continuity under the UPND will secure further progress for the next generation.
