HH Champions Development Across Western Province Campaign Trail
President Hakainde Hichilema has concluded an eventful tour of Western Province, carrying a consistent message of development, delivery, and continuity ahead of the 13 August General Election.
Wrapping up his visit at Mulambwa Grounds in Mongu, the President reaffirmed Government's commitment to accelerated, equitable development spanning infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic empowerment. He confirmed that flagship projects, including King Lewanika University and Mongu's international airport, remain firmly on course, with compensation funds already released to clear the way for airport construction.
In Sikongo, President Hichilema highlighted the district's strategic position along the Angolan border, noting that work has commenced on the Kalabo–Sikongo Road to boost regional trade and connectivity. The Luanginga Bridge project, he said, will open up markets, public services, and fresh investment opportunities across the district.
From rural Mitete, the President celebrated tangible gains since 2021, from electricity connections and road works to free education and expanded CDF, pledging further investment in network connectivity to strengthen rural business and service delivery.
In Kalabo, the President urged residents to vote wisely by backing the UPND, pointing to the peace and stability enjoyed under his administration. He cited key local achievements, including the construction of the Luanginga and Silanda bridges, free education helping vulnerable children return to school, improved employment, and increased CDF allocations. Former Infrastructure Minister Charles Milupi reinforced the message, outlining plans to upgrade the Tapo–Kalabo–Sikongo Road and establish a new border post at Situlu, modelled on Nakonde, to unlock trade and open the Province to greater economic opportunity.
Across every stop, the President's call was clear: safeguard the gains of the past five years, including free education, economic recovery, and over 45,000 teachers and 21,000 health workers recruited, by returning the UPND to office.
The President’s schedule takes him to Central Province tomorrow for two days.
