HH Takes the Campaign to Western Province
The President continued his campaign tour in Western Province today beginning in Nkeyema District greeted by large crowds dressed in vibrant red and yellow. He called on the people to vote for the United Party for National Development (UPND) in the August 13 General Election. President Hichilema said the party has honoured its development promises and will do even more when re-elected.
He reinforced the UPND’s commitment to equitable development by implementing policies which have benefitted the entire nation irrespective of political affiliation or geographical location. The President added that Western Province deserves the same level of infrastructure and public services as every other region in Zambia.
He said that the priorities for Western Province are improved road infrastructure, construction of an international airport to improve connectivity, drive economic growth and help reach the province’s development potential.
He added that there are several commendable achievements recorded since the UPND took office in 2021 including free education and the increase in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from K1.6 million to K40 million per constituency this year. The President said that these reforms have contributed to improved opportunities for youth, women and small businesses.
President Hichilema said that the government’s development agenda extends to every region across the nation with a goal of continued investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and economic empowerment.
He urged the people of Western Province to rally behind all UPND candidates during the August 13 polls and for peaceful and fair campaigns to ensure a free and credible electoral process.
The President later travelled to Luampa District saying Zambians should back the UPND for peace and job opportunities in the public service and development. He said the government has created employment opportunities for many young people in the district.
The President later greeted the masses in Kaoma District and Lukulu district. He said that continued support for the UPND would allow the government to continue to fund and build key programmes including free education and expanded healthcare through the construction of more clinics and hospitals.
He urged residents to play an active role ahead of the elections to mobilise voters in their homes, communities and workplaces.
The President will continue his campaign tour through Western tomorrow, July 4th travelling to Mitete, Kalabo, Sikongo, finishing up with a large rally in Mongu.
