Forward, Not Back: HH Rallies Southern Province

President Hakainde Hichilema rounded off day two of his Southern Province campaign with a clear message to keep Zambia moving forward through development and continued investment in communities.

Addressing enthusiastic crowds in Itezhi Tezhi, Namwala, Monze and Choma President Hichilema outlined the UPND's vision for more roads, better schools, jobs and lasting peace. He urged voters to renew the party's mandate in the August general election.

In Itezhi Tezhi, the President criticised the alleged misuse of funds for the DC769 Itezhi Tezhi–Mongu Road, saying residents had been denied a vital project despite money having been secured. He stressed that public resources must be protected and spent responsibly to deliver meaningful development.

Looking to the future, President Hichilema pledged to prioritise the construction of the Itezhi Tezhi–Mongu Road and the Mbila–Kalomo Road in a second term, saying improved infrastructure would strengthen agriculture and tourism, and widen access to schools and healthcare.

The President also thanked the people of Southern Province for their continued support, saying it had enabled the government to expand the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and deliver tangible improvements across the country.

President Hichilema called on voters to reject the politics of the past and back the UPND at every level, saying the country needed responsible leadership committed to protecting public resources and delivering results. "Do not look back. Let's keep moving forward together," the President said.

The final stop of the day was in Choma where the President promised work on the township and rural roads. He also pledged more health facilities including building Choma General Hospital. To ease transportation the President further promised a dual carriageway from Lusaka to Kazungula and an International Airport. 

He ended the day urging the residents of Choma to “come August 13th, vote for the UPND so that together we can continue protecting the peace, security and stability for National development attained this far.”
