ECZ Set to Receive First Ballot Papers This Sunday

The first shipment of ballot papers for Zambia's General Election, scheduled for 13 August 2026, is expected to arrive in the country on Sunday aboard a chartered flight from Dubai.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced that the initial consignment will land at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka at 12:15 pm.

ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga said six chartered flights have been arranged to transport the ballot papers, with one flight arriving each day between Sunday, 26 July and Friday, 31 July.

She added that the verification of the ballot papers will begin on Monday, 27 July, at 10:00 am at the ECZ Silverest Warehouse in Lusaka.

According to Ms Luhanga, representatives of registered political parties, civil society organisations, faith-based groups and accredited members of the media will be invited to observe the verification process to ensure transparency.

She urged all stakeholders and journalists wishing to attend the exercise to secure accreditation from the Commission in advance.

Ms Luhanga further confirmed that the accreditation process is currently taking place at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
