UPND Alliance Vows to Intensify Campaign for President Hichilema

UPND Alliance Chairperson Charles Milupi says the alliance will step up its campaign in support of President Hakainde Hichilema ahead of the 2026 General Election, with the aim of securing another term for the President to continue implementing his development agenda.

Mr Milupi described the UPND Alliance as Zambia's largest and most united political coalition, and a key partner in the governing administration. He noted that it remains the only political coalition in the country to have won a general election and formed Government.

The rally drew support from across the political spectrum. Party for National Unity and Prosperity (PNUP) President Highvie Hamududu said President Hichilema was the right candidate to lead the country, citing an improving economic outlook. He added that the President had shown the economy could be transformed through sound leadership and prudent management.

United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) President Charles Chanda said his decision to suspend his own presidential ambitions had been influenced by President Hichilema's leadership and his ability to steer the country forward.

New Nation Party President Nevers Mumba urged Zambians to vote for the UPND, citing its record in Government, while Democratic Party President Judith Kabemba warned voters not to be misled by what she called false claims from opponents. She said those now criticising the Government had themselves caused economic difficulties and scrapped certain public allowances while in office.

Representatives from NAREP, MDC, UPP, UNIP and NCP, along with former Matero MP Miles Sampa, also declared their support.
