Lusaka Turns Out for President Hichilema
Thousands of supporters packed the grounds outside the National Heroes Stadium this afternoon for a vibrant UPND rally, where President Hakainde Hichilema pledged to keep tackling the cost of living.
Crowds dressed largely in red filled the venue, creating a lively atmosphere of music, dancing and chants. The energy intensified when the President arrived to loud cheers and applause.
Addressing the gathering, President Hichilema acknowledged that the cost of living remains a real concern for many families. He said his Government was listening and working to bring prices down, pledging not to rest until the challenges were resolved. He added that he feels the difficulties Zambians are facing and remains committed to improving living standards across the country.
The President said his administration had rescued Zambia from debt distress, depleted foreign reserves and economic hardship, while acknowledging that the work was not yet complete. He urged citizens to protect that progress and not return the country to a period of suffering, calling for peace and unity ahead of the 13 August general election.
The rally drew broad political backing. UPND Alliance Chairperson Charles Milupi said the alliance would intensify its campaign to secure another term for the President. PNUP President Highvie Hamududu praised the improving economic outlook, while leaders from PNUP, UPPZ, the New Nation Party, the Democratic Party and others, along with former Matero MP Miles Sampa, also declared their support.
Speakers called on Zambians to back the UPND, citing the party's record in delivering development.
