UPND Alliance Grows to 15 Parties

UPND Alliance Chairperson Charles Milupi says the alliance continues to expand as more political parties and leaders rally behind President Hakainde Hichilema's vision for national development.

Speaking at the UPND Secretariat as he welcomed the latest members, Mr Milupi revealed that the addition of five opposition parties has taken the alliance's membership to 15. He noted that while the alliance is steadily gaining strength, support for those ranged against the ruling party continues to wane, a trend he said reflects growing public confidence in the government's direction.

The event drew warm endorsements from several of the incoming leaders. United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) President Charles Chanda said his party had joined the alliance to help safeguard the achievements recorded over the past four years. New Congress Party (NCP) President Peter Chanda explained that his decision to align with the alliance was driven by his view of President Hichilema as a listening leader, one genuinely willing to work with citizens from all walks of life.

UNIP Leader Lt Colonel Henry Miyoba also paid tribute to the President's commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable citizens, singling out initiatives such as free education as evidence of a government focused on its people.

Meanwhile, Patriotic Front President Miles Sampa used the occasion to criticise some opposition figures, accusing them of resorting to the politics of hatred rather than offering constructive alternatives to the challenges facing the country. The alliance, he suggested, represented a more unifying path.
