Omnia Begins Construction of Fertiliser Blending Plant in Lusaka

Omnia has begun construction of a new fertiliser blending plant in Lusaka in partnership with the Government, as Zambia looks to increase agricultural productivity and improve crop yields.

Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa described the investment as an important step in Zambia's agricultural transformation agenda. The facility will produce soil-specific fertiliser blends designed to improve soil health and increase productivity among farmers across the country.

Mr Kangwa's remarks were delivered on his behalf by Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary John Mulongoti during the project's ground-breaking ceremony.

Omnia Fertiliser Country Manager Nigel Seabrook said the investment will enable the company to manufacture customised fertiliser blends based on the different soil nutrient requirements of Zambia's farming regions. The project is expected to complement the Government's efforts to increase agricultural output by providing farmers with more targeted, science-based fertiliser products.

Omnia Fertiliser Logistics and Distribution Manager Peter Ahmed said the new facility will receive, process, blend, package and distribute fertiliser products tailored to the changing demands of Zambia's agricultural sector.

The investment should strengthen Zambia's agricultural supply chain while giving farmers greater access to fertilisers designed specifically for local growing conditions.
