Kwacha Strengthens After HH Victory

Livingstone-based economist Amos Chibinda says the Kwacha’s resilience amid the election period points to stronger economic fundamentals.

Mr Chibinda told ZNBC News that the local currency would normally be expected to come under pressure during elections, as investors tend to hold back funds due to uncertainty.

He says the Kwacha has, however, remained relatively stable against major international currencies despite the election.

Mr Chibinda says sustained stability could strengthen investor confidence and provide businesses with a more predictable operating environment.
