HH Urges Zambians Abroad: Come Home and Invest
President Hakainde Hichilema has urged Zambians living abroad to show patriotism by investing back home, saying the country now offers a favourable climate for business.
Speaking during a meeting with Zambians living in Ethiopia, President Hichilema said citizens must love their country regardless of where they live or work.
"The current economic climate is suitable for investment in various sectors," the President told the gathering, which included many Zambians working in international organisations.
President Hichilema said his administration has stabilised the country's macroeconomic fundamentals and placed Zambia on a growth trajectory.
He encouraged Zambians abroad to invest now and prepare for their eventual return home.
The President's Economic Advisor, Dr Pamela Nakamba, explained that government had rationalised spending during difficult times to ensure no sector suffered.
"Zambia's economy is now on the upswing, with many opportunities available for investment," Dr Nakamba said.
Moombe Hamaundu, representing Zambians living in Ethiopia, thanked President Hichilema for engaging with the community and assured him that citizens abroad will continue to uphold the reputation of their country.
The meeting is part of the government's efforts to strengthen ties with Zambians living overseas and tap into their skills and capital for national development.
