FRA Introduces Electronic Payment System for 2025 Crop Marketing Season
The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has announced the rollout of a new electronic payment system for this year’s crop marketing season. The system is designed to streamline payments to farmers and improve record-keeping by capturing key details, including National Registration Card (NRC) numbers.
FRA Acting Executive Director Justin Chuunka said the digital platform would broaden the range of payment options available to farmers, making transactions more accessible and efficient. He also confirmed that the traditional payment methods will remain in place, ensuring flexibility for those who prefer or rely on existing channels.
The move marks a step forward in modernising FRA’s operations and improving service delivery to small-scale farmers across the country. The agency hopes that faster and more secure payments will help improve farmer satisfaction and trust in the government’s crop purchasing process.
Additionally, FRA has confirmed that each depot will be manned by two FRA staff members and two security guards to ensure the safety of purchased stocks. This measure is intended to prevent theft and safeguard national food reserves.
The FRA says the new payment system reflects its commitment to transparency, accountability and efficiency in agricultural marketing.
