HH to Recommission Lubambe Mine Shaft

Republican President Hakainde Hichilema is scheduled to recommission the deep shaft at Lubambe Mine in Chililabombwe, Copperbelt Province, on Friday.

This information was shared by Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa in a press conference in Choma on Thursday.

“On Friday, the President is gracing an occasion for the recommissioning of the Lubambe deep shaft at the Lubambe mines, where two deep shafts are earmarked for commissioning of commencement of construction”, Mr Mweetwa stated.

New developments such as these are the result of economic growth and a “renewed vigour by the business community to invest in various mines such as this one, that had gone to sleep because the business and investment climate in the mining sector in previous years was not attractive”, the statement also read.

President Hichilema’s visit reflects the importance that infrastructure projects such as this have within the New Dawn administration’s agenda. It will bring both foreign investment and good-paying jobs to Copperbelt Province.

The President is expected to return to his farm in Choma, Southern Province, on Friday evening.
