FAZ Appoints Chisi Mbewe to Lead Under-23 Chipolopolo

The Football Association of Zambia has appointed Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe as head coach of the Zambia Under-23 men's national team, as preparations begin for the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Mbewe will be supported by Numba Mumamba as first assistant coach, George Chilufya as second assistant coach and Kalililo Kakonje as goalkeeper coach.

FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya announced the appointments in a statement issued in Lusaka, saying they followed a rigorous selection process that drew on some of the best coaching talent in the domestic game.

The Under-23 side has been drawn to face either Sierra Leone or Burkina Faso in the second round of qualifying, entering the competition at that stage.

The first leg is scheduled for 9 November 2026, with the return leg to be played eight days later.
