The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) have signed a K10.8 million sponsorship agreement for the FAZ Women’s Cup, marking a major boost for women’s football in Zambia.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, KCM Acting Chief Executive Officer Malcolm Mewett said the partnership would strengthen competition and support the continued growth of the women’s game.
Mr Mewett said KCM remains committed to promoting diversity and empowering women, adding that the company’s dedication to excellence in its operations would be matched by its investment in football.
FAZ President Keith Mweemba welcomed the sponsorship, describing it as another demonstration of KCM’s long-standing commitment to football development. He said the agreement represents a significant milestone in advancing women’s football in Zambia.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe said the partnership aligns with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of promoting the development of all sporting disciplines on an equal footing.
