Copper Queens Target WAFCON Glory as Tribute to Bruce Mwape
Copper Queens captain Barbara Banda has said the team is determined to lift the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy in memory of former head coach Bruce Mwape.
Banda described winning the continental title as the most fitting way to honour Mwape's lasting impact on the national side, acknowledging the crucial role he played in the team's development.
She admitted the challenge ahead would be significant but expressed confidence that the squad is fully committed to producing one of its finest performances at the tournament.
According to Banda, the players must raise their standards, starting with tomorrow's final international friendly against Algeria, before carrying that momentum into the WAFCON campaign.
She made the remarks ahead of the second friendly against Algeria, which is scheduled to take place at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida at 19:00 local time.
