CAF investigates AFCON incidents following chaotic Senegal-Morocco final

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched investigations into multiple incidents from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Under scrutiny are the final between Senegal and Morocco, along with quarter-final clashes featuring Cameroon versus Morocco and Algeria against Nigeria.

CAF has forwarded these cases to its Disciplinary Board, warning that sanctions will follow if misconduct is proven.

The governing body is also reviewing video evidence of alleged improper behavior by media personnel in the mixed zone.

In a statement, CAF condemned all forms of inappropriate conduct during matches—especially actions targeting match officials or tournament organisers—and pledged to pursue disciplinary action against anyone failing to meet the professional standards required at CAF competitions.

The tournament concluded with Senegal claiming their second Africa Cup of Nations title, defeating Morocco 1-0 in a turbulent final in Rabat. The match descended into chaos when Senegal's players walked off the pitch in protest after Morocco was awarded a controversial stoppage-time penalty. After a 14-minute delay, play resumed with Morocco's Brahim Díaz missing the spot kick. Pape Gueye then scored the winner in extra time with a powerful strike into the top corner.
