Zambia Widens Its Diplomatic Reach at UNGA81

Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, S.C., M.P., has had a busy opening to the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York. He has used the week to broaden Zambia's relations and partnerships in support of the Grow Zambia agenda.

He began by taking part in the 74th Extraordinary Meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG74), accompanied by Her Excellency Macenje Mazoka, High Commissioner of Zambia to the United Kingdom.

At UN Headquarters, Hon. Haimbe and His Excellency Mario Lubetkin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, signed a Joint Communiqué establishing diplomatic relations between Zambia and Uruguay.

He has also held bilateral meetings with two of his counterparts: His Excellency Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, and His Excellency Manuel Tovar Rivera, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica.

Hon. Haimbe also attended the Partners for Multilateralism, International Law, Peace and Prosperity (P4M) Summit, which called for a stronger collective commitment to multilateralism, international law and peace. For Zambia, these principles are central to its national development goals: economic growth, decent jobs and better livelihoods for citizens.
