President Hichilema Hosts Duchess of Edinburgh at Community House
President Hakainde Hichilema and the First Lady received Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh at Community House on Tuesday afternoon.
In a statement following the meeting, the President said he and the First Lady had been delighted to welcome the Duchess, and described the relationship between Zambia and the United Kingdom as warm and longstanding.
He singled out the education focus of the Duchess's visit as particularly welcome, linking it directly to Government efforts to widen access for Zambian students. The President said the country was continuing to promote opportunities for young Zambians to learn both at home and abroad, framing the Duchess's programme as aligned with that objective.
Looking beyond the visit itself, the President set out the areas in which he expects the relationship to develop. He said Zambia looked forward to continued cooperation with the United Kingdom in tourism, investment, mining, education, health and the green economy, among others.
