HH Pushes For More Local Mining Contracts

President Hakainde Hichilema has addressed a rally in Kalumbila, North-Western Province, today, where thousands of supporters gathered to welcome him in a show of strong support.

President Hakainde Hichilema says Government will engage mining companies to increase the number of contracts awarded to local businesses under the Local Content Bill.

President Hichilema says greater local participation in the mining sector will create jobs, while pledging to build roads to improve connectivity and establish a police station to enhance community safety.

He said, “your vote will allow us to work on the roads,” adding that contracts for local road projects have already been awarded.

President Hichilema said FRA depots will be established to reduce the long distances farmers travel to deliver maize, while payments will be made through mobile money within two days.

He also said the Government is working to increase the number of people benefiting from the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
