NRFA Raises K2.1bn in Toll Revenue to Fund Road Projects

The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) collected K2.1 billion in toll revenue during the first half of 2026, with the funds channelled towards road projects and related infrastructure activities across the country.

Speaking at the Lusaka Agricultural and Commercial Show on Monday, 3 August, NRFA Public Relations Manager Alphonsius Hamachila said the Agency generated K1.3 billion from its 26 toll gates, while a further K874 million came from ports of entry.

Hamachila also revealed that the NRFA has collected K4.8 million through its newly introduced mobile money toll payment platform. Launched earlier this year, the service offers motorists a more convenient and flexible way to pay toll fees.

He further highlighted the Agency's efforts to improve financial oversight of road projects, saying: “NRFA has saved over K600 million on road projects from 2011 to date through strengthened monitoring and evaluation activities. The savings are a result of enhanced oversight, improved scrutiny of interim payment certificated and rigorous project monitoring, ensuring that public resources are used efficiently and deliver maximum value for money.”
