Government Starts Providing Milk to Early Childhood Pupils
About 10,000 children in Chinsali District, Muchinga Province, have returned to school following the introduction of the free education policy in 2022.
Chinsali District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Kalale Katele said pupil enrolment has risen from approximately 46,579 learners in 2022 to 56,336 in 2026.
Speaking to ZNBC News, Mr Katele attributed the increase partly to the school feeding programme, saying the initiative has encouraged more parents to enrol their children in school.
He has urged parents to take full advantage of the free education and school feeding programmes by ensuring their children attend school.
Mr Katele also disclosed that the Government has introduced milk provision for pupils in Early Childhood Education as part of efforts to support their nutritional needs and improve participation in early learning.
