Former MMD Chairman Backs HH Ahead of August 13 Elections
Former MMD National Chairman and Information Minister Stan Kristafor has thrown his support behind President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Kristafor, a former Kitwe Member of Parliament, says he is backing President Hichilema because the UPND has demonstrated its ability to govern.
He claims there is currently no credible opposition offering a viable alternative, saying the Patriotic Front (PF) is virtually finished.
Kristafor cites the defection of former PF members, including Miles Sampa, to the UPND as evidence of growing support for President Hichilema.
He has challenged opposition leaders Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu to explain how they would create jobs and drive economic development.
Kristafor says President Hichilema's background in business and economics gives him the experience needed to lead the country forward.
He has also called for peace before, during and after the elections. Kristafor says all political players must respect the outcome of the polls and support whoever is elected, warning that political differences must not be allowed to descend into violence or conflict.
