Senior Chief Monze backs HH at Lwiindi Gonde Ceremony

Senior Chief Monze has publicly endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema ahead of the August 13 general elections, making the declaration before thousands of subjects at the Lwiindi Gonde ceremony in Monze District.

The Lwiindi Gonde is an annual traditional ceremony of the Tonga-speaking people, marking a time of cultural celebration, unity and thanksgiving. This year's gathering drew large crowds and served as a backdrop for the chief's public show of support.

Senior Chief Monze described the President as a leader who puts the interests of citizens first and credited him with ending political violence in the country.

UPND member Victor Cheelo welcomed the endorsement, saying it reflects the confidence that traditional authorities have in the current administration. He said chiefs, as custodians of peace and development in their communities, tend to back leaders whose policies respect culture, protect the vulnerable and create opportunities for younger generations.

Mr Cheelo added that the endorsement mirrors the satisfaction felt by many households in Monze, pointing to what he described as the restoration of stability, economic revival and citizen-centred governance under President Hichilema's leadership.

He called on voters to support the President at the polls on August 13.
