HH Pledges Collum Coal Mine Revival to Boost Jobs

President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to revive the Collum Coal Mine in Sinazongwe District, describing the project as a key step towards creating jobs and revitalising the local economy.

Addressing thousands of residents at Maamba Secondary School Grounds, President Hichilema said a re-elected UPND government would prioritise the reopening of the mine as part of broader efforts to expand employment opportunities and improve livelihoods in the district.

The President also announced plans to construct a 600-megawatt power station in Sinazongwe, saying the project will increase electricity generation and strengthen the reliability of power supply to the national grid.

He further pledged to construct more boarding schools to improve access to education, particularly for learners in remote communities.

President Hichilema urged residents to support the UPND in the August 13 general election, saying another term would enable the government to deliver on the development projects outlined for Sinazongwe.

Meanwhile, Kariba Constituency UPND parliamentary candidate Gift Sialubalo said the increased Constituency Development Fund has accelerated infrastructure development and improved access to essential public services.

Mr Sialubalo called on voters to support UPND candidates at all levels, while unopposed Sinazongwe parliamentary candidate Nchimunya Siakole commended the government's development programmes in the district. UPND Sinazongwe Council Chairperson Cliff Siachibweka also appealed to residents to vote for the ruling party in next month's elections.
