Opposition must thank HH for peaceful political environment- Mufalali

Likando Mufalali, UPND Chairperson for Elections, said the opposition must thank President Hakainde Hichilema for enabling a peaceful electoral environment in which they can mobilise.

Mufalali added that the UPND remains unthreatened by Brian Mundubile’s alliance, claiming that its support is limited to one area and therefore cannot pose a true threat.

Mufalali said in a recent interview that the Mundubile camp has failed people in the past and is therefore not trustworthy.

He reaffirmed: “We are a strong party. We are never scared by numbers that tend to show up somewhere or somehow.” He outlined the challenges the UPND faced and said that “when you look at what they had (at the rally), it was very peaceful… they must thank President Hakainde Hichilema for allowing them to entertain themselves the way they did.”

Mufalali stressed that “as Zambians, we should appreciate that we are now living in harmony.” He said: “The only thing Zambians should not forget is that the group that gathered in Kitwe is the same group that was hacking you. It is the same group that closed the mines. The same group that halted industrial and mining activities on the Copperbelt… they want to come back again and bring poverty once again, stop employment, stop salary increments and so forth.”

Mufalali said that the UPND would intensify its mobilisation across the country, stating that “Zambia is vast; it encompasses more than just the Copperbelt or Lusaka… we are intensifying our grassroots mobilisation efforts nationwide to secure votes from all corners of the country.”
