Mongu Visit: HH Commits to Fund Lewanika University
Large crowds of UPND supporters, traditional leaders, and residents gathered this morning at Mongu Airport to welcome President Hakainde Hichilema.
The President addressed the people, pledging to complete the construction of King Lewanika University. He said the institution will grow to grant higher education opportunities for people in the province. President Hichilema said funds to support the completion of the university will be included in the 2027 budget so that more children can access tertiary education.
The President called on the people of Western Province to turn up in large numbers and vote for the UPND for continued freedom, rule of law, order and development across the nation. He added that patents across Western Province will ensure children in the area attend school with Free Education now enshrined in law. The President underscored the importance of education regardless of a child’s background, reenforcing government’s commitment to expanding opportunity for all Zambians.
HH said that UPND votes will enable more women, young people and people living with disabilities to have the opportunity to be appointed to Parliament. Kapelwa Mbwangeta, UPND Provincial Chairperson assured the President that the party in the province is working hard to gain more votes, while Simomo Akapelwa, Western Province Permanent Secretary thanked HH for visiting the province.
