President Hichilema to Officiate at 2026 Kuomboka Ceremony

President Hakainde Hichilema is set to officiate at this year's Kuomboka Traditional Ceremony, one of Zambia's most cherished cultural celebrations, as the Lozi people of Western Province prepare to mark the occasion on 28 March 2026.

The announcement was made by Western Province Permanent Secretary Simomo Akapelwa during a press briefing at the Provincial Administration offices in Mongu, confirming the President's participation in an event that holds deep historical and spiritual significance for the Lozi nation.

Security arrangements for this year's ceremony are already in place. Western Province Police Commanding Officer Rae Hamoonga confirmed that a heightened police presence will be deployed throughout the event to ensure the safety of participants, dignitaries, and visitors travelling to the region.

The Kuomboka marks the ceremonial journey of the Litunga, the Lozi King, from the floodplains of Lealui to higher ground in Limulunga. President Hichilema's attendance underscores the national importance of the Kuomboka and the government's commitment to honouring Zambia's rich cultural heritage.
