Thirty Ministries Proposed in Hichilema’s Government Realignment
A list of 30 proposed ministries has been set out in the appendix to President Hakainde Hichilema’s request to Parliament to realign Government behind the Grow Zambia Agenda.
The structure leans towards the productive economy, with separate ministries for Trade and Exports, Industry, and Small and Medium Enterprise Development, and Agriculture split from Fisheries and Livestock. Energy is divided into a Ministry of Electricity and a Ministry of Petroleum, while infrastructure is spread across Transport and Logistics, Infrastructure and Urban Development, Housing, and Lands.
The remaining portfolios cover Defence, Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Finance and National Planning, Mines, Tourism, Water, Green Economy, Health, Information, Education, Skills and Higher Education, Technology and Science, Local Government, Justice, Labour, Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Culture and Arts.
State House says the realignment will make Government more efficient and improve service delivery. Vice President Dr W.K. Mutale-Nalumango will move the motion in the House, and the President has urged MPs to support it.
