Hichilema Seeks Parliamentary Approval to Realign Ministries Behind the Grow Zambia Agenda
President Hakainde Hichilema has written to Parliament seeking approval to realign Government Ministries, a move State House says will ensure the machinery of Government fully supports the Grow Zambia Agenda.
Under Article 92(2)(d) of the Constitution, Vice President Dr W.K. Mutale-Nalumango will move a motion in the House seeking approval for the proposed establishment, merger and dissolution of Ministries.
In a statement on Monday, State House said the realignment is intended to make Government more efficient, shaping the structure of the public service around the priorities of the Grow Zambia Agenda and improving service delivery for Zambians.
The President has called on Members of Parliament to support the realignment, which State House described as being in the best interest of the country.
The move signals an effort to turn the Grow Zambia Agenda from a political programme into the everyday workings of Government, with Ministries built around its delivery. The proposals will now go before Parliament for debate.
