ECZ in Final Stages of Constituency Delimitation Process

The Electoral Commission of Zambia is in the final stages of preparatory work to undertake the delimitation of constituencies in line with the Constitution of Zambia Amendment Act No. 13 of 2025.

In a statement issued yesterday, Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro said the delimitation exercise will be conducted with full engagement of stakeholders and is expected to be concluded before the certification of the Register of Voters, scheduled for April 30, 2026.

Mr Kasaro said the timeline aligns with the Commission's 2026 General Election Roadmap.

He assured stakeholders that the Commission is treating the delimitation exercise with the urgency it deserves to ensure completion prior to the certification of the 2026 Register of Voters.

The delimitation process will determine the boundaries and number of constituencies for the 2026 general elections, following the constitutional amendments passed last year under Bill 7.

Mr Kasaro said the Commission will continue to inform and engage all stakeholders throughout the process and provide timely updates.

The delimitation exercise is a critical component of electoral preparation, ensuring fair representation and equitable distribution of constituencies across the country ahead of next year's polls.
