PF’s Nakacinda Warns Against Internal Divisions, Says Some Opposition Parties Want PF Off the Ballot

Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda has claimed that some opposition political parties are working to block the PF from appearing on the ballot in next year’s general election.

Speaking to party members, Nakacinda cautioned that it was not only the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) pushing to sideline the PF.

“It’s not only UPND wishing that PF should not be returned to the rightful owners. Even some of our colleagues in the opposition are hoping the PF will not come back,” he said.

Nakacinda also warned that some PF members were failing to fully commit themselves to the party, leaving it vulnerable to disruption. He stressed that personal ambitions should not be allowed to undermine party unity.

The PF, he said, has placed a temporary ban on leadership endorsements.

“The time will come when we open it up for people to offer themselves for leadership and campaign. For now, we are not entertaining endorsements,” Nakacinda stated.

He further urged MPs to remain disciplined, warning against factionalism.

“This behaviour of thinking that there is a party within the party will not be tolerated,” he said, adding that leadership elections would remain transparent and no leader would be imposed on members.
