Lungu Family Encouraged to Hold Dignified Funeral

The family of the recently deceased former President, Edgar Lungu, have been encouraged to cooperate with the government to hold a dignified funeral.

Members of the Lungu family have, against tradition, decided to hold a private funeral for the former Head of State. Such a decision has sparked concern by stakeholders including Christ Riches Church Reverend William Njombo. The Reverend commented that the profile of Mr Lungu, holding former titles of ‘President’ as well as ‘Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces’ gives ample evidence that he should be mourned with the highest level of respect and dignity at a State Funeral.

The Governance and Development Advocates Zambia (GoDAZ) has praised President Hakainde Hichilema for declaring a seven day national mourning period in honour of the late former President.
