Zambia Reaffirms Commitment to Global Peace Amid Ongoing Instability

In the face of continued global unrest, President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to promoting peace, security and international cooperation. Speaking during a diplomatic visit from the Czech Republic, Hichilema stressed that Zambia will continue to position itself as a constructive partner on the world stage.

The President’s comments come amid growing concern over the ripple effects of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on African nations. Expressing his dismay over the war, Hichilema described the conflict as "unnecessary" and pointed to his 2023 visit to Kyiv as evidence of Zambia’s efforts to encourage peace and regional stability.

The remarks were made during a courtesy call at State House by a high-level Czech delegation, including two Deputy Prime Ministers and the Czech Ambassador. During the meeting, the visiting officials invited Zambia to deepen its economic engagement with the Czech Republic, with a particular focus on boosting job creation and expanding business opportunities.

Both nations expressed interest in strengthening bilateral ties through new cooperation agreements, a move they say is essential not only for mutual benefit, but also as part of a broader push to support global peace and security in uncertain times.
