1.2 Million Voters Registered And Counting
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has announced a strong achievement in strengthening democratic participation, with more than 1.2 million voters registered under the ongoing Mass Voter Registration Exercise, as of the end of phase 4, which started on Tuesday, October 28, 2025,
In a briefing held in Lusaka, ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro shared the news that out of the 567,000 newly registered voters, 300,000 are female and 261,000 are male voters, demonstrating strong engagement across all demographics.
Mr. Kasaro highlighted the Commission’s proactive approach in identifying and supporting constituencies with differing registration numbers. Notably, the Copperbelt Province recorded the highest number of registrations at over 170,000 while Muchinga Province, with just over 67,000 registrations, was the lowest.
The voter registration exercise represents a critical milestone in preparations for the 2026 general elections. The ECZ is working diligently to ensure that every eligible Zambian can exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Through strategic deployment of registration teams across all constituencies nationwide, the Commission has made voting access more convenient for citizens throughout the country. Mr Kasaro reaffirmed the ECZ’s ambitions commitment to reaching its target of registering 3.5 million eligible voters.
This achievement reflects the governments ongoing commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring inclusive electoral processes that serve all Zambians.
